Welcome to the third annual conference of the Metabolomics Society

We are delighted to announce a 4-day meeting of the International Metabolomics Society. This will commence Monday 11th June 2007 with a 1.5 day workshop. The main scientific programme will begin on the afternoon of Tuesday 12th June 2007. The full programme can be download here.

Plenary lectures include:

  • Robert Hall - Metabolomics Assisted Plant Breeding
  • Steve Oliver - Metabolomics as A Tool for Functional Genomics: Studies in Yeast
  • Bernhard Palsson - Systems Biology and Metabolomics: Mapping the Human Metabolome
  • Gary Siuzdak - Novel Approaches for Small Molecule Detection

The scientific programme will consist of 10 sessions, organised by themes in 2 parallel sessions and with speakers selected by the relevant chairs of sessions and the organising committee. These themes include:

  • Metabolomics in Health and Disease
  • Integrating Metabolomics Data with Systems Biology Models
  • Fluxomics and Pathway Discovery; Informatics Meets Isotopomer Analysis
  • Drug Discovery and Development
  • Plant Metabolomics
  • Environmental Metabolomics
  • Nutrigenomics and Metabolomics
  • Microbial Metabolomics
  • Novel Technologies for Metabolomics
  • Bioinformatic Strategies for Metabolomics

For each session of this meeting there are to be four speakers. The Scientific Programme Committee (chairs of sessions plus chair and co-chair) will select these and shall aim to avoid a particular scientific area or laboratory being dominant in the programme. Two of these speakers will be invited and the other two shall be selected from abstracts, a process that will allow scientists early in their career a chance to speak. The deadline for abstracts to be considered for the podium presentation is 27 April 2007 and the deadline for abstracts to be considered only for the poster presentation is 11 May 2007.

Abstracts (in English) are required for lecture and poster presentations. Abstracts should be no more that 1 page (500 words) in length and should contain the title, authors, their affiliations and the name of the author who will present the paper should be highlighted with an asterisk. Please specify in the "Comments to Chair" field whether the submitted paper is to be considered for lecture or poster presentation. The dimensions for the poster is A0 (840mm x 1188mm, portrait format). Click here to submit your abstract.

Following on from the highly successful workshop programme last year, the meeting will commence with 1.5 days of workshops dedicated to MS and NMR technologies for metabolomics and to data analysis methods. Details of the workshops cab be found here
